Kyle’s Philosophy on Threat Hunting

“A few years ago, I read a post by Sergio Caltagirone stating, ‘Threat Hunting cannot be automatic. If it was automatic – we’d call it IDS.’ This statement resonated deeply with me as I began my journey into Threat Hunting. Too often, companies claim they can ‘perform automated Threat Hunting.’ While it is true that some aspects of threat hunting can be automated, the entire process cannot be fully automated. Automation in threat hunting is crucial, but it’s important to remember that hunting is a Human vs. Human activity that requires the eyes and brain of trained professionals to be truly effective.”
