How to Measure the Success of Your MXDR for OT Security Program

Measure the Success of Your MDR for OT Security Program

Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity is crucial for ensuring the reliability and security of industrial control systems and other critical infrastructure. As such, measuring the success of OT security ensures that businesses are effectively protecting their systems and data.

In this blog post, we will discuss key metrics that you can use to measure the success of your OT cybersecurity.

Threat Detection and Response Time

One of the most important metrics to track is how quickly you can detect and respond to threats. This includes the time it takes to detect a threat, the time it takes to contain the threat, and the time it takes to remediate the threat.

By tracking these metrics, you can identify areas for improvement and make changes that will help you respond to threats more quickly and effectively.

Security Incident Rate

The number of security incidents that occur over a given time period is a key metric to track. This will help you identify trends and determine if you are effectively protecting your systems and data.

If the number of security incidents is increasing, it could indicate that your cybersecurity measures are not working as well as they should be.

Compliance with Regulatory Requirements

It’s important to track compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards. This includes industry-specific regulations, such as NIST and ISO 27001, as well as any other regulations that apply to your specific industry.

By tracking compliance, you can ensure that you are following best practices and protecting your systems and data effectively.

With Difenda and Microsoft, compliance is an out-of-the-box feature, meaning you never have to worry when it comes to audit season.

Cybersecurity Budget

The amount of money spent on cybersecurity is another important metric to track. This includes the cost of cybersecurity tools and technologies, as well as the cost of security training and personnel. By tracking this information, you can determine the ROI of your cybersecurity measures and make changes as needed to improve your security posture.

Vulnerability Management

Vulnerability management is an important aspect of OT cybersecurity. You should track the number of vulnerabilities that are detected, the time it takes to remediate, and the success rate of remediation efforts.

By tracking this information, you can identify areas for improvement and ensure that vulnerabilities are being remediated in a timely and effective manner.

Network Security

Network security is critical for protecting your systems and data. You should track the number of network security incidents and the types of incidents that occur. By tracking this information, you can identify areas for improvement and ensure that your network security measures are effective.

Measuring the success of your OT cybersecurity processes is critical for ensuring the reliability and security of your data. By tracking metrics such as these, you can improve your cybersecurity measures as needed.

By doing so, you can ensure that your systems and data are protected against the latest threats.
